from www.dailymail.co.uk - A former high school teacher has pleaded guilty to a felony sexual conduct charge involving a 16-year-old boy.
Jennifer Lynn Whiting, 33, will face at least one year in prison for her guilty plea.
Whiting, from Tucson, Arizona, was charged with eight counts in July alleging that she had sex with the boy, smoked marijuana with him and sent him sexually explicit photos of herself.
She faces between a year and nine years in prison under terms of a plea agreement. She will be sentenced on December 5, according to the Arizona Daily Star.
Whiting was arrested after the teenager's cousin saw her drop him off at a park and his father found the incriminating photos on his cell phone.
Whiting used to teach at Rincon High School in Tucson before she was fired for failing to disclose her arrest.
A law that was passed in January 2009 in Arizona increased sentences for teachers who engage in sexual relationships with students. It has lead to a string of teachers being sent to jail.
Adrian Noriega, a 40-year-old former Apollo Middle School principal was sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison and a lifetime on probation for a two-year affair he conducted with a 13-year-old student.
Aaron Montoya, 31, who used to teach at the Allsport Academy charter school was sentenced to five years in prison and a lifetime of probation for having sex with a 14-year-old student.
Thomas Saul, 32, a former Catalina Magnet High School teacher was given two years in prison and six years probation after pleading guilty to attempted kidnapping of a 17-year-old student with sexual motivation.
Christie Elliott, a 26-year-old teacher at Empire High School, was placed on three years probation after she pleaded guilty to kissing a 15-year-old student and having impure thoughts.
