Hot to Trot Teach: Tericka Dye's Teaching History

Former Porn Chick Tericka Dye Drops Appeal to Get Her Teaching Job Back

Tericka DyePADUCAH, Ky. -- A former Western Kentucky high school teacher who was let go after school officials learned that she had appeared in a series of adult movies more than a decade ago has dropped an appeal to get her job back, her attorney says.

Tericka Dye has a teaching job in another state, said attorney Mark Blankenship, who declined to identify the state.

"She is hoping that all of this is now in the past and she can get on with her life," Blankenship said. "She loves teaching and is happy that she can be teaching again."

Dye, 34, was suspended with pay from Reidland High School in Paducah last spring -- and her teaching contract was not renewed -- after she admitted appearing in adult films 11 years ago under the name Rikki Andersin.

Dye said she was living in California at the time and working as an exotic dancer, and she desperately needed money. She has said she worked hard to turn her life around, get a teaching degree and help others.

Dye agreed to withdraw her appeal of a judge's decision to dismiss her lawsuit against the McCracken County school system. That agreement was finalized Friday when the Kentucky Court of Appeals dismissed the case.

Porn Star Past Costs Teacher 2nd Job in Five Years

from: - A St. Louis high school student is getting an "A" from authorities after discovering a teacher's X-rated past.

Tera Myers, 38, was put on administrative leave at Parkway North High School this week after a student inquired about pornographic films Myers starred in during the 1990s.

The science teacher decided to leave the school "out of respect for her privacy and that of her family," Paul Tandy, spokesman for the school district told the Daily News. "She was concerned about the impact it would have in the building."

Officials didn't know about Myers' past, which included a suspension five years ago from a Paducah, Ky., school for her role in the adult films.

While in Kentucky, Myers taught under a different name, Tericka Dye.

In 2006, the former porn star spoke to several media outlets and even made an appearance on "Dr. Phil," arguing she deserved to get her job back and that she had made the biggest mistake of her life.

"Anybody who has been in my classroom could tell you how much I love teaching and how much I love these students, and that should be what matters more than anything in my past," she said in May 2006.

Myers, whose stage name is Rikki Andersin, said she made the movies when she was living in California, working as an exotic dancer to earn desperately needed cash.

Because Myers' role in the adult films wasn't illegal, her pornographic past didn't show up during a background check.

The teacher, who has been at the school for four years, will be paid through the end of the school year but will not be returning in the fall.

"We're surprised, very surprised," said Tandy. "At the same time we feel for her and her family. We do believe she has tried to move on with her life... Unfortunately, even though it happened 15 years ago, [the video] is still there."

Will WikiLeaks Result in More Mainstream Outings ala Tericka Dye?

from - Erotic stars such as Jenna Jameson, her male counterpart Seymore Butts and Charlie Sheen's latest inamorata, 24-year-old blonde former centrefold Bree Olson, are all so mainstream that their lives are detailed in Wikipedia.

But the 1,500 or so performers in the seedier end of the pornographic film trade, predominantly based in California, often sought to conceal their "acting" careers from friends and family and especially later employers.

Now the ability of those pornographic film performers to hide their identity behind sometimes bizarre stage monikers has been shot to pieces after a website published a leaked database containing the real names, dates of birth, and official nicknames of more than 15,000 of the adult industry's hard-working performers, past and present.

Most of the information revealed by the Porn Wikileaks site is likely to have come from computer files that originally belonged to the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation [AIM], an STD-testing facility based in the San Fernando Valley, north of Los Angeles, which caters to the 1,500 working erotic film actors based in the region at any one time.

Under guidelines that are supposed to minimise the spread of HIV and other venereal diseases – in an industry that does not always insist on condom use except in titles aimed at the gay market – all pornographic actors are supposed to be tested at the clinic once a month. Producers and directors are then able to access the database it holds, before casting their movies.

The information published by Porn Wikileaks was first uploaded several weeks ago but only began being widely disseminated yesterday, after its existence was highlighted by Mike South, a blogger who covers adult entertainment issues. "Your information is now in the hands of people who shouldn't have it," he warned his readers in the trade.

Although the leaked database does not include private medical information or test results, it includes names, addresses and copies of identification documents of everyone who has registered at AIM. In some cases, it also includes Google Maps photos of their homes. The site will therefore effectively "out" anyone who has worked as an erotic actor since the clinic opened in 1998.

That prospect is uncomfortable for porn stars who have neglected to inform friends of family members of their profession. And it's even more chilling for former adult actors who may have quit the trade several years ago in order to pursue mainstream employment. In two cases in recent months, US schools have sacked members of their teaching staff after it emerged they had starred in erotic films when younger.

No one knows what motivated the creator of Porn Wikileaks, which is amateurish and yesterday struggled to cope with a sudden surge in traffic. The site is registered in the Netherlands, apparently by a disgruntled member of the "porn press", and describes the purpose of its existence as being a "media organisation" devoted to making the industry more transparent.

The leak of the database meanwhile comes at a bad time for the AIM clinic, which was founded by Sharon Mitchell, a former adult actress, in 1998. It was briefly closed by regulators last year following an HIV outbreak among performers tested there.

The Mainstream Press is Really Dissecting the Tericka Dye-Rikki Andersin Story

from - This week, Tericka Dye resigned from her job as a school teacher in St.Louis after one of her students revealed her controversial past.

Dye, 38, is a former pornstar who, at a young age, ended up in California and became involved in the adult porn industry. After serving in the U.S. Army, she supposedly starred in such films as “Major Slut,” and “Butt Brats 7,” under the name Rikki Andersin.

After enrolling in college and a stint in the U.S. Army, Dye went on to become a school teacher but controversy over her career followed her. Since her former career wasn’t illegal, she passed all background checks and became a science teacher and volleyball coach but was suspended with pay in 2006 after the school superintendent felt she would be a distraction because of her background. Her contract was not renewed and her story was even featured on an episode of “Dr.Phil.”

Years later, Dye ended up at The Parkway School and went unnoticed until this year when a student inquired about her porn past. Dye took a leave with pay until the end of the year and it was reported that she does not plan on returning in the fall.

from - CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - Teacher Tericka Dye's X-rated past has come back to haunt her - again.

The Missouri high school science teacher and mom of four has resigned from her job after students learned that she was once an adult film actress, going by the name of Rikki Andersin.

Dr. Don Senti, interim superintendent of the Parkway School District in suburban St. Louis, confirmed to CBS affiliate KFVS that Dye asked to be placed on administrative leave for the remainder of the school year.

A statement from the Parkway School District says Dye's request came after a student asked her about her past, referring to the one or more pornographic movies Dye admitted to making while living in California in the mid-1990s.

The school agreed to accept Dye's request "out of respect for her privacy and that of her family." It also states Dye passed standard background and reference checks prior to being employed in August 2007.

Dye came under fire in 2006 while working as a science teacher and volleyball coach at a high school in Kentucky. Teachers in Paducah stood by her when she was suspended with pay for the 2005-2006 school year and her contract was not renewed because the superintendent feared her presence would cause a distraction in the classroom.

Before leaving the high school, Dye said her decision more than a decade prior was the worst choice she'd ever made.

"I'm a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who's made a lot of bad decisions in life," Dye said in May of 2006. "Anybody who's been in my classroom could tell you how much I love teaching and how much I love these students, and that should be what matters more than anything in my past."

Dye's attorney announced in early 2007 that Dye had withdrawn an appeal of a ruling on a lawsuit she filed against the McCracken County School System and was leaving Kentucky. Her attorney declined to comment where she was headed.

What she did was not illegal, so it didn't show up on a background check.

Myers will be paid through the end of the school year, but not be returning in the fall.
